bait and switch
curated by Chiara Di Lello
Featuring works by Brooks Cashbaugh, Molly Di Grazia, Queena Ko, Laura Meyer, and Olivia Swisher.
In today’s culture of information overload, many works of art benefit from looking like one thing but saying another. bait-and-switch gathers artists whose work captures the viewer’s attention, then pulls the rug out from under them. These artists deliver fresh perspectives by seemingly known means, often leveraging a familiar artistic medium, image or source material and subverting it to their own ends.
This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
