276 Greenpoint Avenue
September 13 - October 3, 2012
Reception: Thursday, September 20, 7 - 9 PM
INTERDEPENDENT is an exhibition of new paintings by Allison Maletz and David Pettibone. This show will run from September 13 – October 3, 2012; a reception will be held on Thursday, September 20th from 7:00 until 9:00pm. INTERDEPENDENT is a continuation of artists Maletz and Pettibone’s working relationship. These artists, witness to each other’s artistic practice through their shared studio space in Brooklyn, will now foster the exchange of that practice in INTERDEPENDENT. INTERDEPENDENT is the first show to present Allison Maletz and David Pettibone’s work together.
In recent years, Maletz has invested in ideas of the domestic, platonic, yet secretly dysfunctional, western family. Pettibone’s most recent body of work explores the different facets of the honeybee keeping industry, from the honey harvest to monoculture pollination, to fighting the diseases that threaten the various honeybee species. These two artists approach painting as documentary that questions the viewer’s understanding of our normal and abnormal relationships with one another and the natural world.
INTERDEPENDENT will feature Pettibone’s wall sized oil paintings as well as selections of Maletz’s large and mid-scaled watercolors. For image requests or more information contact Elizabeth.email@example.com.
